The Person

Spiritual Leadership:

AMF is searching for an Executive Director with the following qualities and characteristics in these areas of leadership:

Spiritual Leadership:
  • The Executive Director must have a solid, well-grounded, and vital faith in Jesus Christ; live a Christ-centered life; be able to clearly explain his relationship with Jesus Christ; and be committed to the authority of God's Word.

Personal Leadership:
  • He must have the ability to develop relationships with a wide range of constituents.  He should enjoy meeting people in both professional and social settings. Building relationships with a broad range of people (staff members, donors, Board members, a cross-section of denominational leaders, Christian organization leaders, etc.) is vital to effective leadership at AMF.
  • His management style must be “hands on” enough to stay on top of details, numbers, objectives, policies and any other factors that impact the organization, without being so “hands on” that he stifles the life of the organization.
  •  He must have strong focus and willingness to persevere, a high energy level, excellent health, and readiness to assume this challenging role. His family situation should enhance his ability to meet the demands of this position and not create conflict or obstacles.
  • He must be an active and involved listener.

Executive Leadership
  • Collaboration is at the heart of a successful working relationship between the Executive Director and his staff. The Executive Director of AMF should be known for the participative and collaborative spirit that permeates his administration; he should lead the team relationally, creating synergy, encouraging innovation, and delegating responsibility and authority while demonstrating a high degree of decisiveness.

  • The Executive Director should bring new ideas to AMF by observing and researching best practices from other organizations and ministries and then consulting with the regional directors to see if these practices would enhance the mission and effectiveness of AMF.

  • He should be a skilled decision-maker – caring, but strong-natured and able to make hard decisions to support and establish policy when necessary. He should also demonstrate consistency in applying, enforcing, and upholding rules, policies, and practices.

  • He should be motivated to meet new people in order to share the ministry of AMF with a wide range of new audiences.

Organizational Leadership

  • The Executive Director of AMF must be able to inspire, encourage, and motivate individuals and/or groups through a compelling presentation style coupled with a seasoned, professional/executive presence. It is critical that this person be able to create community spirit, foster a feeling of ownership in the mission’s work, and encourage accountability to God and mission leadership.
  •
  • He must be a skilled change agent, bring together key stakeholders, encourage efficiency in work groups, and clearly define and delegate respective responsibilities. He must have a high degree of understanding of what motivates people and the ability to draw out of them their best results.
  • He must communicate vision, personal warmth, and sincerity to staff while maintaining organizational discipline.
  • He must be adept at conflict resolution, solving problems expediently.

  • He must have a very clear understanding of what everyone is doing and how they are doing what they are doing, holding people/staff accountable for agreed-upon outcomes. He must realize and appreciate the multifaceted nature of the AMF staff and demonstrate the ability to unify and synergize diverse groups into a dynamic, purposeful organization.

Visionary Communicator

  • The Executive Director must communicate the mission and vision of AMF with energy and enthusiasm in multiple venues. In addition to having strong interpersonal communications skills, he must effectively engage internal and external small groups and large audiences, bringing visibility to the ministry while serving as chief spokesperson.
